Emily Waltz
Emily Waltz began her musical career with piano studies at age 5. From this young age, music was a love and at age 8 she began studying classical trumpet under the direction of James Hala.
Emily started her formal education at Ithaca College in 2007. During her years there, she gained training in orchestral, symphonic, pit orchestra, jazz, and chamber ensemble playing. Emily graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor in Trumpet Performance and Music Education in 2011.
In 2012 Emily furthered her studies by pursuing a Masters Degree at Temple University, studying with teachers David Bilger and Tony Prisk. Here, she performed as principal in the Wind Symphony and Opera Orchestra as well as Associate Principal in the Symphony orchestra, performing works by composers such as Rimsky-Korsakov, Mozart, Ives, and Brahms. Emily was also an active teacher while at Temple, participating in the Community Music Scholars Progam--a weekly music school for students in grades 4-12.
After graduating with her Masters Degree in trumpet performance in 2014, Emily pursued a Professional Studies Certificate from Temple University, under the teaching of David Bilger. In 2016, she finished a two-year recording project with Temple University's Wind Symphony, which included performing with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra.
